Barack Obama is President-Elect!! What an exciting end to a long 21 months it has been with the presidental election. I am so glad it is finally over and history has been made!
Yesterday when Zach came home from school he was all excited about getting to vote in his classroom. Since Cory and I really don't talk politics in front of the kids, Zach's knowledge on the 2 front runners was not much more then what he has seen on TV and he learned at school. So when I asked who he voted for, he was very excited to tell me John McCain. I kept my composure and asked him why? He said he thought it was important that we have Sarah Palin for a women Vice-President amongst all those men. What a profound statement from a 6 year old! After we talked more about the election, it occured to me that it really made no difference to him that Barack Obama was an African-American man...to Zach he was just another guy running against another guy for President and having a women in the White House was important too!
Although I may disagree with the issues the McCain/Palin ticket talked about, I do agree with Zach, it would be awesome to have a women in the White House! But for now, I am thrilled with the leader America has chosen and can't wait for the change to begin!!
